Time Tracking

The Time Tracking tab and per-task timer controls let you log work time directly from your phone. Start a timer when you pick up a task, stop it when you are done, and the time entry is recorded automatically.

The Problem This Solves

Time tracking requires consistency. When you work across different environments — your desk, meetings, commutes — logging time becomes fragmented. Forgetting to start or stop timers creates inaccurate data.

The mobile timer is always one tap away, whether you are opening a task detail or checking the Time Tracking tab.

What You Are Looking At

Time Tracking Tab

The Time Tracking tab (bottom navigation bar) shows:

  • Active timer — the currently running timer with task name and live elapsed time (DD:HH:MM:SS format)
  • Today's summary — overview of time tracked today
  • Upcoming tasks — tasks waiting for your attention

Task Timer

Inside any task detail screen, the timer icon in the header lets you start or stop a timer for that specific task.

Starting a Timer

From the Time Tracking Tab

Navigate to the Time Tracking tab and use the start controls to begin tracking time on a specific task.

From a Task Detail

  1. Open any task by tapping its card on the board
  2. Tap the timer icon in the task header
  3. The timer starts immediately

The live elapsed time appears in the Time Tracking tab and in the task header.

Stopping a Timer

  1. Tap the running timer (either in the Time Tracking tab or the task header)
  2. A confirmation modal appears
  3. Confirm the stop

The time entry is logged automatically with the start time, stop time, and total duration.

Timer Conflicts

If you start a timer while another timer is already running:

  1. The app detects the conflict
  2. A prompt asks what you want to do
  3. You can stop the current timer and start the new one

This prevents overlapping time entries and ensures clean data.

Timer and Workflow

When you start a timer on a task, the app can automatically update the task's workflow status (e.g., move it to "In Progress"). When you stop the timer, you may be prompted to update the workflow again.

This keeps your board in sync with your actual work without manual status updates.

Live Timer Display

The timer displays elapsed time in DD:HH:MM:SS format:

  • DD — days (for long-running tasks)
  • HH — hours
  • MM — minutes
  • SS — seconds

The display updates in real time, giving you a precise view of how long you have been working.

Time Entry Synchronization

Time entries created on mobile sync immediately with:

  • Web application — visible in the project's time tracking reports
  • VS Code extension — appears in the time tracking sidebar
  • Team views — teammates can see your logged time

Pro Tips (Once You Are Comfortable)

  • Timer as commitment: Starting a timer when you pick up a task creates accountability and accurate data for sprint retrospectives.
  • Quick stop: If you get interrupted, stop the timer immediately. Short, accurate entries are better than long, inaccurate ones.
  • Check the tab: Glance at the Time Tracking tab periodically. If a timer is running that you forgot about, stop it and adjust if needed.
  • Pre-meeting stop: Before joining a meeting, check if a timer is running. Stop it to keep your time data clean.

Permissions

  • Agency Owners and Managers: Can track time and view all team time entries
  • Developers: Can track time on assigned tasks
  • Clients: Cannot access time tracking features
